Library of Babel

Library of Babel translates the structural constraints of Jorge Luis Borges' The Library of Babel into a generative drawing system. Each page follows the fictional library's specifications for alphabet, line length, and page format. The alphabet itself is generated by rotating a single gesture in three-dimensional space, while the weight and scale of the script vary from page to page. There are 410 unique pages—the length of a single volume in Borges' imagined library.

Below are 34 pages selected from the complete volume.
